Collaboration with João Loureiro
Market stall, carved watermelons
In the first week of June 2022, a fruit stand at Pacaembu street market, in São Paulo, sold carved watermelons. Their curves and flourishes were typical of fruit carvings for party decorations, but the motive they depicted set them apart from their festive counterparts. The stand was part of the farmer's market in the mornings and remained in activity, isolated, after neighboring stalls were dismantled and the square became a parking lot.
"Domestic Economy: Brains" was the first collaborative piece by the couple Ana Dias Batista and João Loureiro, and participated in the exhibition "In the street, in the middle of the whirlpool", curated by Catarina Duncan within ArPa art fair.
