installation in two contiguous rooms, of proportional measures
Mendes Wood, Sao Paulo
Two remote control cars with identical appearance, but in different scales (one was twice the scale of the other) were modified to function uninterruptedly, plugged to an electrical outlet, one in each room. A single programming controlled the movements, which forced the cars against the walls, at regular intervals.
Two custom-made decorative paintings represented skies in rectangular areas sized to fit both rooms' ceilings. These areas, however, were displaced, as if they had rotated counter-clockwise, heading down the walls. Identical, one painting was precisely half the scale of the other.
